A lovely pink gem in Elk Grove Village. I tried the Chicken and Leek pie, and it had excellent flavor. I removed one star for the food, because it could have been hotter. Same goes for the mashed potatoes - great flavor but could have been hotter. The crust on the pie was FANTASTIC, however, and I could have eaten a whole plate of it. Yum! The brown butter cookie was clearly homemade, with minimal ingredients on the label. Delicious. The dining area is clean, with a few tables and chairs to sit and enjoy your meal. If you dine in, your food is served on real plates with real silverware. I can't wait to visit again!

Delicious pies. Wife and I tried the Lamb & Sweet Potato, Apple Calvados, Steak & Cheddar, and Chicken & Mushroom. The sweet potato does a lot to cover the lamb taste, but you still slightly get it at the end since the lamb fat lingers in your mouth. I liked it, but my wife didn't since she doesn't really like lamb, but she said it was better than normal since the lamb taste isn't as pronounced. Steak Cheddar hand plenty of large pieces of tender meat all held together in a mild melted cheddar. Chicken mushroom was a very tender creamy mushroom chicken blend. Not sure if there was actually cream in it but it was delicious. Apple Calvados was just the right sweet to me. Decent spice and just natural cooked apple sweetness, not a lot of added sugar. Crusts were buttery and flakey and not leaking. Fantastic fare. Would come again.

Don't be scared of the prices or the "portion" you get here this food is INCREDIBLE!! We got an Angus stout steak pie, a sausage roll (duh) and I had to try the beet and feta. The Angus steak pie was HEARTY, the meat was tender the flavors were fragrant and savory. The sausage roll, which my husband was obsessed with, was thick and delicious. The beet and feta was delish as well! Creamy feta layer with slices of beets layered in there. All were in a thick flakey crust, dipped in the gravy which was qorth the add on. It was all fillling and perfect for us 2 to split for dinner. Service was top noth the lady behind the counter warmed everything up for us and was so bubbly and refreshing. Can't wait to try more!!

**** Food: My last experience with savory pies was from tourist trap The (Strand) Wellington, in particular its excellent holiday special chicken/duck/turkey pie. (Other pies there were fine, but that one really stood out.) Flavor-wise it came to mind when eating POL's lamb pie, even though textures obviously differed and The Wellington served its pies more formally with china, silverware and a little gravy boat. Those aren't necessary for a very good meal! And that doesn't mean POL's quality was in any way inferior. It was on par or much better. The four stars come not from the quality of what was available; rather, they come from the situation below. But this is a new(?) eatery and startup kinks will be worked out. **** Service: At times haphazard but always warm, kind and friendly. Definitely not appreciated: ordering, _paying,_ sitting...and then being told that parts of the paid-for order weren't available. So what's available, now that a pot of money has been given? Again, this is a new(?) eatery and not a high-end restaurant. Startup kinks will be worked out. **** Atmosphere: Very pretty and made-for-Instagram but one bathroom was out of soap while the other's paper towel

This Elk Grove Village location just had their grand opening today. Everyone seemed to be enthusiastic and working hard. The shop is not big, but there are a few tables/seats for those who want to dine in, and the decor was pleasant. I have tried their savory pies previously at farmers' markets and enjoyed them there. Today, I ordered the lamb and sweet potato pie and it was cold in the middle; since there was a big crowd, they were probably in a hurry to restock this popular pie. I also ordered a blackberry sparkler to drink. It didn't come with any ice, but unlike my pie, it could have stood to be colder. In the end, this is all normal stuff for a brand new place. I know from my other experiences that the product is good, and it will be nice to have it available on a standing basis.
